Oracle sheds 21,000 roles in a year as it rebuilds around AI
| Oracle's workforce dropped 13% in a year - about 21,000 people - and for the first time, the company said plainly in its filing that AI is a direct reason why. |
| The cost of cutting that many roles wasn't small: severance payouts jumped nearly five times, to $1.84 billion. |
| At the same time, Oracle poured $55.7 billion into AI infrastructure - up 162% - mostly data centers tied to deals with OpenAI and Meta. |
| Oracle isn't an outlier - Amazon, Meta, and dozens of other companies are making the same trade this year, with 119,800+ tech layoffs recorded industry-wide in 2026 so far. |

| 1. | Open Claude Tag, click Add to Slack, and complete the setup. |
| 2. | Grant Claude access to the channels where you want it to help. |
| 3. | Type @Claude followed by the task and enough context to act on it. |
| 4. | Keep working while Claude researches, drafts, summarizes, or completes the task. |
| 5. | Review Claude's response, make any edits, and use the output however you need. |
